How does 4D Pro works?

The principle of an Er:YAG 2940nm laser is based on its specific wavelength, which is highly absorbed by water, causing a precise and rapid vaporization (ablation) of tissue with minimal thermal damage to surrounding areas. This makes it effective for procedures like skin resurfacing, where it removes superficial layers of skin with rapid healing due to the small amount of heat damage left behind. A related principle involves using different modes, such as the SMOOTH mode, to heat the tissue without ablating it, promoting collagen remodeling for skin tightening. 

• High water absorption: The 2940 nm wavelength is at the peak of water absorption in tissue, so the laser energy is absorbed very efficiently by the water molecules. 

• Rapid vaporization: This efficient absorption causes the water to instantly vaporize, which "ablation" or removes the outermost layer of tissue. 

• Minimal thermal damage: Because the energy is so quickly absorbed and used for vaporization, there is very little residual heat left behind to damage the surrounding tissue. This is a key advantage over lasers with less water absorption, like the CO2 laser, which can cause more thermal damage. 

• Fractionated laser technology: Some applications use a fractionated beam, which creates microscopic columns of treated tissue, leaving the intervening "fraction" of the skin intact. This undamaged tissue acts as a reservoir of healthy cells that expedite the healing process. 

• SMOOTH mode: Certain Er:YAG lasers can operate in a non-ablative, "SMOOTH" mode, where the laser energy heats the tissue to stimulate collagen production and remodeling without vaporizing any of the surface layers. This mode is used for tightening and improving skin texture.
