How Does Diode Laser Work?

Diode lasers use the principle of selective photothermolysis (abbreviated SPTL) to target specific chromophores in the skin, usually melanin or blood.  The lasers damage the chromophores by selectively heating them while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed.  When treating unwanted hair, for example, the melanin in the hair follicles is targeted and damaged which results in the disruption of hair growth and regeneration.  A diode laser can be complemented by cooling technology, or other pain reducing methods which improve treatment efficacy and patient comfort.

How does Picosecond laser works?

• Ultra-short pulses: The laser delivers a pulse of energy in a picosecond (trillionth of a second) duration. 

• Photomechanical effect: This rapid energy delivery creates a powerful "shockwave" in the target tissue, like a pigment spot or tattoo ink. 

• Shattering effect: This shockwave instantly breaks the target particles into much smaller fragments, similar to shaking a large stone into powder. 

• Minimal thermal damage: Due to the incredibly short pulse duration, the heat does not have time to diffuse into the surrounding healthy skin, minimizing collateral damage. 

• Body's natural clearance: The smaller fragments are then easily metabolized and eliminated by the body's immune system. 

• Collagen stimulation: In some applications, the laser also stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, which helps with skin tightening and renewal. 

How does OPT work?

OPT (Optimal Pulse Technology) uses controlled, selective photothermolysis for both hair removal and skin rejuvenation. For hair removal, it targets melanin in the hair follicle with specific light wavelengths, heating it to destroy the follicle and prevent regrowth. For skin rejuvenation, it uses the same pulsed light to heat the dermis, stimulating new collagenproduction and improving skin texture, reducing wrinkles, and tightening skin. 
Hair removal principle

• Selective absorption: The broad-spectrum light is filtered to a specific wavelength range that is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. 

• Heating and destruction: The absorbed light energy is converted into heat, which raises the temperature of the hair follicle to a point where it is destroyed, preventing future hair growth. 

• Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT): Unlike traditional IPL, OPT delivers consistent and stable energy pulses to minimize the risk of burns and ensure more effective and comfortable treatment. 

• Gradual heating: The energy is delivered in a controlled, gradual manner, which helps to reduce discomfort and minimizes damage to surrounding tissues. 

Skin rejuvenation principle

• Dermal heating: The light energy penetrates the skin to heat the deeper dermal layers. 

• Collagen stimulation: This heating process stimulates the production of new collagen and promotes cellular regeneration. 

• Improved skin quality: The new collagen helps to repair aged and damaged skin, leading to smoother texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and improved skin tone. 

• Melanin breakdown: For issues like freckles or pigmentation, the light energy also breaks down the excess pigment, which is then cleared by the body's metabolism.
